I got a lot of questions about the Resveratrol 3% and Ferulic Acid 3% Serum from The Ordinary when I posted a peek at my massive haul from them via Instagram Stories a few weeks ago… So I decided to share WHY I bought 3 backups of this fantastic product!
When I initially came across this serum, I was really intrigued by the first main ingredient. Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant derived from grapes 🍇 it’s antimicrobial, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, AND helps to smooth skin texture 😱 As it’s primarily an antioxidant, it protects the skin from environmental damage; reducing the effects of damaging free radicals just about twice as better than either vitamin C or E AND it protects against sun damage!
According to a patent filed by L’Oréal, resveratrol is reported to stimulate healthy cell production/collagen synthesis by protecting the skin from harmful enzymes that breakdown collagen and also improves the function of skin cells that create healthy collagen. Resveratrol is just an all around super duper powerhouse ingredient that I need in my life 5everrrrrr 😢
If the amazing properties of resveratrol didn’t blow your mind already 🤯, The Ordinary added ferulic acid to the mix, another excellent antioxidant that’s derived from cereals like bran, rice and oats 🌾 It stabilizes other antioxidants and actually makes other skincare ingredients work harder 😏 and last longer 😏😏👌🏾
This serum isn’t inherently sexy, I’ll admit. It has no discernable scent, plain packaging. It feels slippery and might feel a little greasy once applied, but it sinks in quickly and leaves a satin finish to the skin. The open bottle pictured is my second bottle; It took me about 6-7 months to finish the first. I’m about 4 months into this bottle and it’s about half full so a little goes a loooooong way. I use no more than 3 drops 2x a day.
So what about the results you ask?? 😱 My skin is definitely smoother (but I also use acids so ymmv 🤔), but tbh the 2 reasons WHY I keep this in my routine all year round are:
- the powerful anti-aging powers this has… #gettingold sucks, but preventative products are essential to your routine, no matter how old you are. Prevention is key my friends 🗝
- It moisturizes without greasiness; it’s great for layering or mixing in with creams/thicker serums.
- Bonus! It makes my face feel amazing after application👌🏾
Soo yeah… I fucking love the serum so much and I will keep it in my routine until they discontinue it ♥ The serum is only $7.90 (!!) for 30ml, and you can buy it here. One bottle should last about 4-7 months depending on usage, so you get way more than your money’s worth IMHO.
Do let me know if you have tried/will try it 😊
