Happy Friday peeps 🤗 When you own every @juviasplace highlighter though 🤩💜 I know, I just posted my latest acquisitions a couple of weeks ago, but I love this brand so much! I own nearly all of their makeup products... Which says a lot. I'm very discerning with my cosmetic purchases these days 😎 They really do make incredible makeup for affordable prices!! . Their highlighters have been AMAZING so far 😍 You want a low key glow? They got you. You wanna be a glowy space princess?? They got you too, boo! Their products are just the bomb IMHO 💣 Also, their beautiful African inspired packaging makes me want to wrap myself in Kente cloth tbh 😂 . Swatches of the pretties....? Maybe someday #sorrynotsorry 🤷🏾‍♀️ but do let me know if you stan Juvia's Place too... And if you've never heard of them, give them a shot, you won't be disappointed... It always pays to #supportblackwomenbusinesses babes 💜 . . . . . . . . . #skincaresorceress #sshauls #juviasplace #thetribehighlighters #NubianLooseHighlighter #HeroineLooseHighlighter #highlighterhoar #highlighterfordays #highlighterjunkie #BOMB #SupportBlackBusiness #igmakeup #igbeauty #supportsmallbusinesses #instabeauty
Happy Valentine's Day peeps 💘 Today I'm reviewing the Ro's Argan body soap from @lushcosmetics! I got it back last month along with some other rosy goodies, and I thought it was appropriate for today 🌹 . Featured Ingredients: Argan Oil, rose oil (soothing, balancing), glycerin (humectant) . Formula Notes: this has an interestingly squishy gel like texture. I didn't expect that at alll! This smells soooooo good 😍 it's an exact duplication of the Rose Jam shower gel + matching spray! The rose petals are not only beautiful but aid in exfoliation. It's a low foaming soap. . Did I Like it?: nope. It was really drying! I thought since it was a glycerin based soap (not to mention the Argan oil) it would be more moisturizing. I actually bought this in lieu of the Rose Jam body wash that has Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS), which I actively avoid in any cleansers I buy... But this *does* have Sodium Hydroxide, which is also a base (aka alkaline) ingredient 😔 though in smaller quantities it doesn't usually bother my skin if there's lots of moisturizers in the formula. . Will I repurchase?: that's gonna be a no dawg... I bought this in the hopes of having a non drying alternative to the shower gel and tbh it was just as bad!! I used to have really bad dermatitis all over my body skin for years 😔. After I stopped using body cleansers with sulfates it all went away in a matter of weeks so I just don't fuck with that ingredient anymore... And not this soap either apparently as some dermatitis came back after using this soap 😔 . I'm really bummed that this soap didn't work well for me 😔 I bought this bar hoping to get a nice alternative to that and it was just as drying as I remembered the shower gel to be AND gave me a dry itchy patch on my back 😭 I guess I just have fancy soap/potpourri to display in my bathroom... Or I can use it to clean my makeup brushes maybe.....? #callback 😂 . That makes two disappointing Lush products in a row... I think I'll just keep buying the Rose Jam spray and Ro's Argan body conditioner from there and stop messing with their other shit because they never seem to work out too well for me 🙄😏😂
As someone who finds chipped polish detestable, I've learned some *handy* tricks #badpun 😂 to help manicures last longer and wanted to share them with you 🤗💜 . Avoid water for at least an hour before painting: water makes your nails soft, which can cause splits/breaks and can also cause polish to lift and peel off after application. . Wear gloves to wash dishes/do chores: same reasons as above. Plus it prevents chipped polish 👌🏾 . Lightly file your nails: filing helps seal your edges which helps prevent breaks and water from getting in your nails. I highly recommend the Austrian crystal file from @zeva_beauty! It's gentle and last for years 👌🏾 . Clean your nail plate: If you have oils on your nail plate, it can cause lifting and peeling of your polish. Wipe your nails with either isopropyl alcohol or polish remover before you paint your base coat. . Always use basecoat: base coat is a MUST; even if a polish claims to be "all-in-one". Base costs are designed to grip polish to your nail plate and they prevent staining. If you have weak nails, look for a strengthening base coat. . Avoid "all-in-one" base/topcoat: they're just garbage tbh... As I said above, base coats are specially formulated to grip polish. Topcoat is formulated to seal in the other layers... Those two are mutually exclusive IMHO. . Use a good quality base coat: Skimp on regular ass polish but NEVER base coat! You can use $1 polish over a $15 base coat and get phenomenal results! My favorites are the NailKale Superfood base from @nailsinc and Naked Base from @zoyanailpolish. They're nourishing and strengthening 👌🏾 . Cap your edges: capping not only keeps out water, but lets your mani last longer. After painting the nail bed, run the edge of the brush over your nail edge for every coat of polish painted (including base + top). . Oil your cuticles & nails everyday: oiling keeps your cuticles soft and looking neat, plus helps keep your polish pliable. Dry polish chips quicker! . Reapply topcoat every 2-3 days: keeps your nails shiny and helps prolong your mani! Remember to seal the tips 😉 . That's all the nail hacks I have for now 😊 I'll post more when I can think of anymore good ones 💜
Happy #texturetuesday peeps! 💜 I DIY'd a Himalayan sea salt scrub with lavender and rose petals on Sunday and I wanted to share it with you 🤗 . I made the scrub for a #selflove Valentine's Day ritual... Y'know #witchythings and all that 😉 It's actually a really great exfoliator so I decided to share the recipe I used! . Self Love Valentine's Day Scrub 💝 . Pink Himalayan sea salt (for cleansing, purification, and protection) Sunflower oil (for protection, health, and wisdom) Safflower oil (for love, healing and happiness) Grapeseed oil (for money and strengthening mental abilities) Rose essential oil (for love, tranquility, and to ease depression) Lavender essential oil (for relaxation, healing and purifying) Rose petals (same as the oil) Lavender buds (same as the oil) . In a pint sized container, I added the salt and filled it about halfway. I added 2 tablespoons of lavender buds and about the same amount of dried (and crushed) rose petals. I mixed in equal parts of the carrier oils (Sunflower, etc) to fill the container to almost full, then added 10 drops of each essential oil and mixed. I added more sea salt because it was a little too wet 😏 and I wanted a crumbly texture. I don't have exact measurements, so you kinda have to wing it to your liking. . I chose the oils and ingredients with intentions specific for the ritual, but these are also excellent for skin! Himalayan pink salt is a natural antiseptic (kills bacteria). It has trace elements of iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sulfur, zinc, and chromium. Safflower oil contains the essential omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid, Sunflower seed oil is also high in linoleic acid plus has vitamin E, and Grapeseed oil contains both omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. It's also rich in vitamins C, D, and E!! These are all non comedogenic, anti inflammatory, and nourishing oils. I use them to make my body oil (along with jojoba) and it's perfect for parched dry skin. The EOs are for scent and their relaxing/anti-inflammatory/skin beautifying purposes too 😀 . I hope you like the scrub! Do let me know if you make it and what you think 💜
Hiiiieeee 👋🏾 Happy #manimonday peeps 🤗 I'm so glad to share this @ilnpbrand mani with you this week 😍 I hauled 5 of their polishes recently and they're all stunning! Many thanks to @jacmakeup for recommending the brand to me 💜 . I chose the color Tilted for this mani. This color is AMAZEBALLS 😱 it starts out purple (y'all know I'm about that #purplelove 😍) but then shifts to magenta, green, and gold if you *tilt* it at different angles!! I've never owned a nail polish like this before!!! It's fucking magical y'all 😢 The best part is, the wear time is phenomenal!! I painted these last Monday after my last disappointing mani from Nails Inc *cough shittypolish cough* and these lasted just about 6 days with NO CHIPPING until the 6th day 😱 . I love this polish but I wanted to kick it up a notch and added some nail stamps from @hellomaniology! The white polish was some cheap shit from Amazon that's surprisingly excellent 👌🏾 . I'm currently working on my Valentine's themed mani today so I suppose I'll be posting that out of the season (next Monday) #sorrynotsorry 🤷🏾‍♀️😂 . . . . . . . . #skincaresorceress #naturalnaillife #ilnp #tiltedpolish #stampednails #colorchangingnails #nails #nailsofig #nailsofinstagram #naturalnails #instanails #nailstagram #nailsonfleek #nailsaddict
Happy Saturday peeps 🤗 If you're like me and you have some shitty cleansers lurking about that you don't want to use on your precious face, this is the perfect solution for giving them a second life! . One day I was cleaning my makeup brushes and was running extremely low on my usual choice of brush cleaner (baby shampoo). I had a few high pH cleansers that I didn't have the heart to throw away lurking around, and I thought... Why not try [insert shitty cleanser here] instead of baby shampoo...? 💭 It worked like a charm 👌🏾 High pH cleansers cleanse off dirt *really* well... They just shouldn't be used on your face (or body IMHO), so why not use them to clean your brushes instead? . I've said it before.... CLEAN 👏🏾 YOUR 👏🏾 MAKEUP 👏🏾 BRUSHES 👏🏾 OFTEN 👏🏾 ... and don't reuse them the next day/time without doing so. I'm all for being a #lazybitch, but some things are worth the extra effort. Your face (and your makeup) will thank you 😘 . I'll be sharing skincare tips every Saturday! Keep an eye out for them (they'll all look like this one) or follow the hashtag #ssskintips 💜 . . . . . . . . . #skincaresorceress #skincaretips #esthetician #blackesthetician #estheticianadvice #cleanyourmakeupbrushes #skinfirst #greatskin #greatskineveryday #skincarecommunity #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #abcommunity #skincarecommunity #beautycommunity
